Opportunities for Individuals

Want to get involved but don’t know where to start? Our individual volunteers support our work in a variety of ways, from supporting our team in the office to leading their own repair projects in the community. We welcome volunteers of all skill sets, especially Construction Captains, skilled tradespeople, and generally handy people. Find your niche here.

Construction Captains & Skilled Volunteers

If you have a construction background or are handy, volunteering on one of RTP's construction sites is a great way to keep your skills sharp and give back to the community. RTP Construction Captains and skilled trades volunteers are vital to our work. Check out our skilled volunteer brochure.

Construction Captains are compassionate problem-solvers and experienced project managers who meet with homeowners or nonprofit facility managers to scope project requirements and determine effective repair methods.

Skilled trades volunteers help project leaders by doing repair work prior to, during, and after general volunteer workdays. RTP projects are great places to network with contractors and other industry professionals.

Office/Warehouse/Special Projects

We rely on individual volunteers to help us to prepare for National Rebuilding Day and year-round repair projects. Volunteers help with office support, warehouse organization, community outreach, special events, mailings, data entry, graphic design, event planning, photography/videography, and other special projects depending on their skills, interests, and availability. We value the time, energy and experience that individuals bring to our organization and appreciate their desire to serve the community.

Youth Volunteers

Rebuilding Together Peninsula values the opportunity to work with enthusiastic young adults to rehabilitate homes and community facilities, develop leadership skills, and experience the rewards of working in partnership to provide safe and healthy places to live for low-income homeowners. Our youth policy is intended to accommodate volunteers under the age of 18 on the construction site while recognizing the dangers inherent in our work.  In the interest of safety, RTP does not allow volunteers under the age of 14 on a RTP work site while there is construction or rehabilitation work actively in progress.  An Adult Advisor over the age of 21 must accompany any youth volunteer on a project site and we recommend a minimum of one Adult Advisor for every four Youth Volunteers.
