Volunteer
Volunteers are the backbone of our work and the foundation for our success for over 30 years. We welcome volunteers for our volunteer-driven Rebuilding Days and for select minor home repair projects throughout the year. Our generous volunteers make it possible for Rebuilding Together Peninsula (RTP) to stay true to our belief that everyone deserves to live in a safe and healthy home.
Opportunities for Individuals
Individual volunteers can support the mission in a variety of ways, from helping out in the office to leading repair projects in the community. Whether you have lots of construction/repair skills or none at all, we have opportunities available for you to make a difference.
Individual Volunteer Descriptions
Construction Captains
RTP’s Rebuilding Day work relies on the skills of volunteer project leads to plan and manage a safe and rewarding day for a team and to see a scope of work to completion. Typically, Construction Captains are contractors or similar professionals with general carpentry or advanced ‘handyman’ skills relevant to the unique needs of a project site. If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk!
Skilled Volunteers
Interested in volunteering your ‘handyman’ skills but not ready to lead a team? We have project work throughout the year in our Safe at Home program that can utilize those with carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or similar experience. For our Rebuilding Days, skilled volunteers can assist with prep or cleanup work, assist select volunteer teams, or act as day-of site runners to collect needed materials and supplies.
Other Volunteers
Community service-minded volunteers looking to assist our mission to repair homes and revitalize our communities without ‘handyman’ or contractor skills may be needed on special projects throughout the year. Whether assisting in our office on administrative needs, preparing supplies for Rebuilding Day, or working on marketing projects such as web design or project site photography, there may be a fit. Let us know what skills you bring and how you are motivated to help.

Group Volunteer Descriptions
National Rebuilding Day
Both of RTP’s signature Rebuilding Day events, National Rebuilding Day (NRD) in April and Fall Rebuilding Day in October, rely on sponsors who provide crucial funding and volunteer support to directly help us on home and community facility projects. To learn more about sponsoring and the reward of a team volunteer experience, on NRD, click the button below.
Special Projects
Have a team of volunteers interested in our mission and ready to work, but one of our Rebuilding Days doesn’t fit your calendar? We often can find prep or clean-up work that can accommodate teams of various sizes at a project site in support of a Rebuilding Day sponsorship.
Trade Associations
Are you a repair industry group looking for opportunities to volunteer your skilled labor onto relevant and meaningful work in the community? We’re always eager to connect with associations, unions, or ‘handy’ professionals to partner with us on projects throughout the year.
Youth Groups
Youth service groups looking to build a spirit of giving back and foster a foundation of community service are welcome to join us in our vision of safe and healthy housing. Project opportunities can range from Rebuilding Day work to assisting us in our warehouse with inventory and organization.
