REBUILDING TOGETHER PENINSULA TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL REBUILDING DAY APRIL 30, 2022

OVER 600 VOLUNTEERS EXPECTED TO PROVIDE CRITICAL HEALTH AND SAFETY-RELATED REPAIRS AND UPGRADES IN A SINGLE DAY FOR 19 PENINSULA FAMILIES AND FACILITIES

REDWOOD CITY, CA: On Saturday, April 30, 2022, Rebuilding Together Peninsula (RTP) will celebrate its 33rd National Rebuilding Day with the support of more than 600 volunteers from over 30 sponsoring organizations and companies. Joining hands on 30 project sites throughout San Mateo and northern Santa Clara Counties, volunteers will provide home repair and renovations for homeowners-in-need and select community facilities. Improvements will include painting, debris removal, electrical and accessibility upgrades, landscaping, grab bar and handrail installation, bathroom and kitchen improvements, and safety upgrades, amongst other repairs and modifications.

“The repairs done on National Rebuilding Day are done in true neighbor-helping-neighbor spirit. In partnership with community-minded service organizations and companies, volunteers have an immediate, concrete, and long-lasting impact on local families who would often otherwise have to choose between buying groceries and making critical home improvements. And they have a meaningful team-building experience in the process,” shares Melissa Lukin, executive director for Rebuilding Together Peninsula.

Over 30 organizations, including Rambus, Inc., The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, and Woodlawn Foundation are sponsoring National Rebuilding Day, providing critical funding for materials and labor.

“Whiting-Turner is proud to continue our long partnership with Rebuilding Together Peninsula (for National Rebuilding Day). We all have a shared responsibility to support our neighbors in need and to build community”, said Damon Ellis, senior vice president for Whiting-Turner.

Marissa is one of many homeowners receiving free support on National Rebuilding Day. With limited resources to address home modifications for family members with physical impairments, Marissa contacted Rebuilding Together Peninsula. A volunteer team from Rambus will address the family’s critical safety and accessibility needs, including installation of a wheelchair ramp.

“Since my family members are getting older and getting disabilities, I have to make this house functional for them. Rebuilding Together Peninsula helped me a lot to make this happen in a short period of time,” explained Marissa.

“Providing critical accessibility repairs on a National Rebuilding Day project site will be a rewarding experience for our team members, with immediate benefit to a homeowner-in-need,” said Jeffry Moore, SVP of global operations at Rambus. “Rambus is proud to continue its partnership with Rebuilding Together Peninsula in helping our community neighbors live in safer and more healthy homes.”
