Rebuilding Stories
"I can't believe there is an organization that does this. I can't believe how many people care about what we do. I can't believe what a coat of paint and new carpet will do. It feels good to come to work."

– Staff of Pyramid Alternatives

"The value of our work at the Coastside Parents’ Nursery went beyond dollars and hours—it was a project that connected us more deeply with our community, and especially the children who now have a safe place to play and learn every day. We are motivated each year by this first-hand knowledge of our impact, made possible because Rebuilding Together Peninsula fosters strong relationships between volunteers and those in need."
*More about this project.

– Construction Captain Jiffy Bennett

*Sponsored by DPR Construction and led by construction captain Jiffy Bennett and volunteer captain Kathleen McCrea, the team transformed a daycare in Half Moon Bay. The team of volunteers installed new floor, a new stove / oven, cabinets, a railing at the back door stoop, painted interior and exterior and landscaped. Together DPR and RTP invested over $27,000 of labor, material and supplies with just 36 volunteers.

"We are truly blessed in San Mateo County to have organizations such as yours who make a point to reach out and care for the citizens of the county who may need support in maintaining their homes."

– Homeowner

"Thank you! So small in size, these two words just don't seem to be large enough to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for your personal time and visits to my home; showing real care and concern for my project, and not giving up."

– Homeowner, East Palo Alto

"The completion of the outdoor classroom for our kindergarten and visually impaired students made the biggest difference. The students can safely explore and learn. It was amazing the quality of work. We are very appreciative of what was done for Landels School."

– Principal of Edith Landels Elementary School in Mountain View

NATIONAL REBUILDING DAY 2010 was an enormous success with 80 projects completed – the most in our history!
Many neighbors have worked hard all their lives and have been physically and financially able to repair their homes for most of that time. Now due to illness, aging, inflation or job loss, they are unable to fund this work on their own and their homes have deteriorated.
